Simple steps to create ABC display art
Another little bit of my hall is up for view. That would be the… ABC art!! Were you liking my antlers? Yep, baby blue antlers are special. But, let’s get on track. DIY ABC display art is what we are talking about today!
ABC letters from the dollar store…
Next send your 9 year old out to spray the letters (that you previously had him line up to be sure that the dollar store letters didn’t leave out an I or a U). And then yell at him for being outside in the WI fall without shoes on. Cold!
Find a piece of wood that looks pretty good. Decent width and long enough to put all 26 letters on.
Now you want to brush black paint on the edges and randomly through the center of your piece of wood. Let it dry a bit but not too long. (Yes, that is vague. You gotta just feel that part…go with what seems right)
Then, the secret ingredient…vinegar! Steel wool works the best for scrubbing BUT…I didn’t have any. So I used a sanding block. Ehh. What’s a girl to do.
After rubbing vinegar on with the sanding block you’ll get a bit of a dirty, rough looking piece of wood. Score!! If you feel like it throw some nails at it, beating it up, sanding a corner off…all the better!
Then hot glue those painted letters on the wood nice and straight.
There you have a very cool display art for…$3.00?? Hello…yes please! My hall is looking mighty fine!! Did you catch the upgrade my hall doors got?? Next week I’ll reveal the entire hall. And let me tell you…it’s ridiculously awesome!!!
