Orange Rum Sunset Cocktail

A refreshing fruit cocktail that is as gorgeous as it is delicious! Full of bright orange flavor and rum, this is a party favorite!

Orange sunset cocktail full of orange and rum.

This drink is crazy easy to make and one of my favorites to serve at parties and with company because it is so easy to make and to adjust based on preferences and ingredients on hand.

Can I use Triple Sec instead of orange curacao?

Absolutely. Because I often have homemade margarita mix making ingredients on hand, triple sec is usually what I use. BUT, when I am planning ahead for a large amount of these drinks I buy the orange curacao.

Ingredients needed for orange sunset cocktail are orange soda, orange curacao (or triple sec), and rum.

The orange soda can be swapped out for orange juice, club soda, or ginger ale and you'll still have a tasty drink. HOWEVER, it is truly best with a good orange soda.

I like to grab the orange soda in the bottles for parties and have them all lined up. There is something so fun about seeing those as part of the cocktail. Maybe that's the little girl in me ;)

Mixing up orange sunset cocktails with the rum and ice.

Just give the ingredients a good stir with ALOT of ice and you are good to go.

Ideas for garnish:

  • orange peel
  • glass rimmed in orange sugar
  • fresh mint or basil
  • slice of orange on the rim
  • dried orange on the top

Note: When you are making a large batch, use a more budget friendly rum. When you are making one for yourself...use the good stuff! In fact, I often skip the orange soda and go for orange juice and really good rum. Soooo yummy!
