Do you have a morning routine? I hope you do, or at least a semblance of one. Having a morning routine keeps you organized, healthier, more focused, and the best version of yourself you can be. It can be hard to get a routine going and sticking to it but the benefits are huge! You don’t need to have as detailed a routine as mine to still get great benefits! Something as simple as eating breakfast each morning with a cup of coffee and your favorite Simply Pure can be a great start to your day.
Why a Morning Routine is good for you…
- Having a morning routine reminds you to persist and show determination.
Yesterday may have been an epic fail in the game of life but that doesn’t matter…you are going to get up, reset, and start again. A morning routine helps remind you to keep doing what you do. - Having a morning routine reminds you that you control your day.
So often we get moving and never stop. We get on the cycle of the day and just go without figuring out where we are going, why we are going so fast, and who the heck is driving? A morning routine helps us remember that we are in charge of our day. We are in charge of our schedule. We are in charge of our environment. - Having a morning routine helps you put the focus on what is most important to you…first.
Taking care of myself is something I am trying to prioritize in my life, right now. Eating breakfast helps remind me to eat well, doing laundry reduces stress and gives me more free time on the weekend, putting on my make-up reminds me that I am worth a few extra minutes in the morning to look and feel my best, taking my vitamins gives me the energy and nutrients I need, checking calendars helps me prioritize my time, which, reduces stress, and sitting with a cup of coffee and just being allows me a few moments of peace and reminding myself that the day is a gift. Those are, for me, the things I’m trying to prioritize in my life right now. What about you? Are you starting your day with a routine that helps you focus on what is most important?

I’m sharing my exact routine simply to let you know I live what I preach :) and know from experience that a morning routine does great things for productivity and health! My routine takes about an hour which, I feel, is the best hour of my day, sometimes.
My morning routine (I keep this on a post-it note stuck to the wall above my desk)…
- Get dressed, complete with makeup.
Exceptions…Monday. I work late, late on Mondays and allow myself to be a slob, if I want. - Make bed.
Complete with pillows. My office is in my bedroom and working in a space that is tidy and pretty makes me less stressed and calmer. - Drink water first thing.
I drink water with lemon in it all day, it helps my stomach. Starting with that right away in the morning helps me wake up and get my metabolism going. - Take vitamins.
I have trouble with anemia and Vitamin D deficiency. It’s a genetic thing. So, I make taking my vitamins part of my morning routine. Iron, Vitamin D, Probiotic, and Fish Oil. - Check supper plans.
I find it’s terribly useful to know what supper for that night is, get out what is needed, and sometimes even put meat in the fridge for the next day. It helps keep the “what am I going to make” confusion to a minimum. - Check the family calendar.
I try to do this before the kids head off to school so we are all on the same page about what is after school, where I will be, where Nate will be, and any expectations there may be. - Start laundry.
I start the washer in the morning and transfer it to the dryer in the evening. It keeps my weekend free of pile-ups (although there is inevitably catch-up to do on Saturday) and makes the house run a bit smoother. - Sit and chill with a cup of coffee and breakfast.
Yes, I have to schedule this or I won’t do it. I still only eat breakfast about 5 out of the 7 days. It’s my least favorite thing to do. I can’t be bothered :). But, I try to make the kids a good breakfast and sit down with them to talk about the day, what’s been going on, or just be.
Many of you are also struggling with the eating breakfast bit. I have talked to many mom’s who tell me they “don’t have time” or they “don’t like breakfast” or “I don’t know what to make”. I hear ya! One of my favorite tasty and fast breakfasts is Simply Pure French Toast. I make it with whole wheat bread, topped with fresh berries, and real maple syrup. It is easy, fast, delicious, and nutritious. Give this a try and see if you can pull out breakfast in 15 minutes. Seriously, the time it takes to make every person in your family a microwaveable sandwich you could have this made and on the table.
This really is only 2 ingredients for delicious, flavored french toast. And the best part is that you can use that creamer in your coffee :). You know how I love multi-purposeful items! I am loving this creamer for my flavored french toast because the ingredients are natural. Real milk, cream, and sugar added to your eggs to make a yummy weekday breakfast.
