Spicy Jalapeño Margaritas

Delicious combo of sweet and spicy with homemade jalapeño simple syrup and spicy salt. The recipe for a pitcher!

Ingredients

Jalapeño Syrup (makes 1 cup- enough for 16 margaritas)

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 jalapeño

Spicy Salt (makes 1/2 cup rimming salt)

  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder

Jalapeño Margarita (makes 4 margaritas)

  • 1 cup tequila
  • 3/4 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup jalapeño simple syrup

Instructions

Jalapeño Simple Syrup

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat stir together the water and sugar.
  • Add the jalapeño and bring to a gentle simmer. Continue simmering, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes.
  • Let it cool down completely and pour into an airtight container.

Spicy Salt

  • Stir together all the ingredients until everything is well incorporated.
  • To rim the glass, rub a lime wedge over the border of the glass and dip into the spicy salt until the whole border is coated.

To Make Spicy Margaritas:

  • In a pitcher combine the tequila, lime juice, orange juice and jalapeño simple syrup.
  • Add the ice, lime wedges and jalapeño slices and stir. Set aside.
  • Rim the glasses with the spicy salt and fill with the margaritas. Serve immediately.
