Old-fashioned Brownie Recipe

a simple and delicious brownie recipe from my Grandma's recipe box.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs, at room temperature
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp strong coffee totally optional. It definitely adds but isn't a must-have!

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven to 350F.
  • Lightly grease a 8x8 pan and line it with a parchment paper
  • In a microwave safe bowl, melt together the chocolate chips and butter. Stir till smooth.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt - keep it aside. Mix the coffee granules and hot water together.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar till the sugar dissolves. Mix in the vanilla essence and coffee mix.
  • Pour in the melted chocolate and using a spatula gently fold it in.
  • Add the dry ingredients and mix well using a spatula.
  • Pour batter into prepped pan and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes till done.
  • Cool it on a wire rack fully and then stick in the fridge for at least an hour before cutting it into squares using a sharp knife.
