Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 tablespoons butter cold and cut into cubes
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk to make your own add 3/4 tablespoon lemon juice to 3/4 cup milk, stir and let set for 15 minutes to curdle

Instructions

  • Stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the butter and honey.
  • With your fingers work quickly to work the butter into the flour mixture.
  • Form a well in the center of the flour mixture.
  • Add the buttermilk all at once.
  • Use a fork to stir the wet and dry ingredients together.Don't worry if the dough isn't perfectly "doughy" yet.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead about a dozen times.
  • Roll out to 1/2 an inch thick. Cut into biscuits or, if using for cobbler, form into a large round.
  • Brush with beaten egg or milk prior to baking.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes
