Apple Pie Slab Bars

An easy way to serve apple pie to a crowd of people! Delicious, easy to make, and easy to serve!

Servings 24 squares

Ingredients

  • 1 recipe for double crust pie or 1 pkg purchased pie crusts
  • 12 apples cored peeled, and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons butter cut into chunks
  • optional- 3 tablespoons whipping cream

Topping:

  • 2 cups oats
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Press prepared pie crust dough into the bottom of a lined cookie sheet.
  • Mix sliced apples, lemon juice, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in large bowl.
  • Pour apples on to the pie crust.
  • Dot with butter cubes.
  • In small bowl mix flour, cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, and oats together. Cut in the butter. (alternately you can use a food processor for creating the crumble.)
  • Pour the crumble on top of the apples and spread it about.
  • Bake the bars for 60 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  • Cool for at least 15 minutes before cutting.

Notes

These bars store beautifully in the fridge. You can store them in layers with parchment or waxed paper between each layer.
