Prep Time10 minutes
Marinade time6 hours
Servings4 pieces

  • ½ cup tequila--gold silver tequila will work, as well
  • cup lime juice if using chicken breasts reduce this to ⅓ cup
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 1 jalapeno finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 4 skinless boneless chicken breasts or chicken thighs

  • Mix everything together into freezer bag or large bowl. Marinade for 6 hours or overnight.
  • To grill: Oil the grill grates really well. On a consistent 250-300 grill heat, sear the chicken on one side for 5 minutes...save the extra marinade.
  • Flip, brush with more marinade, and continue cooking for about 7 minutes or until the inside temperature is 165 degrees. Let rest and serve. NOTE: Chicken thighs will take longer to cook than breasts, expect to add at least 2 minutes to the cook time.

Try this marinade on pork chops, veggies, and even steak!
If your family likes heat, use double the jalapenos or try scotch bonnets.
