- 8 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped.
- 1 ½ cup water
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
Put all of the ingredients into a large soup pot and bring to a boil on the stove.
When boiling, reduce heat to simmer and gently boil for 20 minutes or until the apples are soft.
Let the apples cool about 10 minutes and then mash them with a wooden spoon, potato masher, immersion blender, or even a fork.
Store in the fridge to be eaten within a week or let cool completely and then freeze in freezer bags for 2-3 months.
Some apples may require a bit more sugar if they are quite tart. Adapt the sugar amount to your personal preferences.
