So the metrodome is no more. For many of us, this is a very sad affair. We have a lot of memories attached to that old building, and the new Target Field just isn’t the same. But change has happened, and that means that we now have Target Field Twins games. And they are still awesome. And still fun. But…there are a few things you should know about Target Field to make your experience the best it can be.
The field itself isn’t different. Obviously. So the seats you remember being horrible before are still horrible now. Our seats weren’t bad for viewing, but we definitely weren’t in a good spot to catch anything. Oh, well. Next time.
The same baseball food is still available. Foot long hot dogs, burgers, nachos, soda, Cracker Jacks, you name it. You should know that they have some types of food organized by “areas” if that makes sense. Tacos are only over by 1st base. So we had to walk all the way around the building to get to them…past dozens and dozens of other vendors. Maybe there were some closer to where we were sitting, but if there were, the information help people didn’t know about it either. Having said that, now we know exactly where to find tacos in the future!!!
We may not love the trek to tacos, but we do love all of the local flair that Target Field Twins games now have. Local brews are available in several locations, and there are even a few local restaurants that are now vendors at the Field. This is a big WIN in our books!
Since the games are no longer held in the dome…the threat of bad weather is real. Very real. So as the clouds started to roll in, we knew we needed to prepare ourselves to be drenched. Others were not so smart. It seems most Minnesotans have forgotten the fact that Target Field doesn’t have a roof, and that rain jackets are very useful for games now.
Initially, we lamented the downpour. It was ruining our perfect gaming experience! Dome, oh dome! Where have you gone! But then…we realized we were the only smart ones (apparently) in most of the stadium. See all those seats up there? They had been full. Everyone fled to the safety of the building, and we were one of the few lucky enough to continue watching the game.
So, a recap:
- Expect to walk a lot for food.
- Be prepared for whatever weather is OUTSIDE…since there is no longer an INSIDE.
- Oh, and pay attention to where you park. More than ever, it is important to remember.
