Square Lake Beach seems to be a fairly well-kept secret in the Eastern metro area. And as much as we'd like to keep this beautiful little spot to ourselves, that seems a bit selfish. Because the beach is huge, the water is clear, the woods are beautiful, and we could go on. Really.
The water gets pretty deep, and quickly. So be aware that you'll need to watch children closely.
That fishing dock is a short walk from the main beach. Far enough that there is absolutely no threat to swimmers, but close enough that you can easily park in the main lot and walk out for a morning. I don't actually know if the fishing is good...but I imagine that isn't the point. The sunrise is gorgeous, the dock is beautiful, and hot coffee makes anything fun!
And do you see those woods? They go around almost the entire lake. Because this beach is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Seriously. You'll think you're lost. Isn't that awesome!?!
This is the largest of the areas set up for picnicking and grilling. There's a great mixture of shade and sun, enough grills to go around, and tables a-plenty. This area is also right next to the restrooms and a few vending machines. Nothing fancy, but actually pretty clean :)
Okay, these stairs really are picturesque. All twisty and winding and in the woods and everything. But...it does make it hard to get from the parking lot down to the beach. Especially if you have kids. Or are older. So this beach gets our recommendation for the middle ages...neither young or old. But for the middles...it's perfect!!!
