This is a strange blog post, today.
First, this post appears to have nothing to do with food.
Second, It's BEAUTY for goodness sake. That is totally not my thing.
Third, I'm going to preach at you. Hold tight.
But y'all have been asking me for YEARS about what products I use for my 41 year old face. I have been blessed with great genes, take as good of care of myself as I know how (yoga and eating well. And wine.), and yes...there are a few products I swear by.
I decided it was time to get over my awkwardness and just show you what I use. Please be kind, my friends.
Still here? Good. Now let me tell you what this has to do with food...
I believe that the chore of getting ready in the morning is one we do without much complaint. For many of us we actually ENJOY, to some extent, the process of taking off the sleep and putting on the day.
We've found our favorite make-ups, hair products, and beauty routines that help us feel our best. And we gladly pay for it again and again.
But you learned this, didn't you? You've read magazines and tested brands and swapped and tried and swapped and tried again. It took time and trial and MONEY and learning to feel comfy with your routine, didn't it?
What if you gave your meals and kitchen a bit of that time and trial and MONEY and learning? What if you tried to find those tools and recipes and tricks that, like your morning products, helped cooking feel less like a chore and more like a gift?
NOT like you should make a full meal every night. Or stop feeding your kids Pop Tarts Saturday mornings.
How about spending a few minutes learning a new skill or practicing one? Head to the kitchen 5 minutes early just to pour yourself a glass of wine and turn the music on?
Make your kids' favorite meal just because you know they love it.
Or go ahead and splurge on the ingredient you've been dying to try?
What if you teach your family that food isn't a chore unless you make it one? (check out our Cooking 101 section)
Okay, I'm done preaching. (I can hear Brenda saying "Go Girl"---time to be done )
My favorite products:
Note: I do purchase Setting Spray when I am feeling lazy. But, I do make my own and have a great recipe for DIY Setting Spray.
