The Bellie here. We’ve been working on our new office space since I moved in, but it’s been slow going. Because this is what we had to start with. Yep, we had a lot of work to do. We’ve been shopping for the perfect combo of beauty and function, and we are pretty sure we’ve finally found it! We wanted pieces that could do multiple things. Cause I’m a renter (as is Nellie) and on a budget I wanted furniture that I could use for many things as I move and change where I live (although, now that I live near Nellie…why would I leave?)
Note: We sometimes get paid or free product for the posts we do. Go here for our full disclosure.
Isn’t it adorable? We’ve only been using this space for a few days, but we really do love it. It is beautiful and incredibly functional for us as a worky space. (We don’t like to say “work”… that’s too boring. So we say we’re off to do “worky things”. You should try it sometime, it helps.)
Why is there a picture of just the window? Because we couldn’t get a good picture of it with everything else. The light is great for working…but very bad for getting you pretty pictures to see how amazing the space looks. And Nellie’s photography skills aren’t good enough to take window shots. (she tells the truth ~Nellie)
Nellie often accuses me of not working…but in this case it’s actually true. She told me to pretend to write for the photo, so I did. I should have known it was a dirty trick. The point: this Titus Rusty Elm table is the perfect height for working. A lot of side tables are the right height to put coffee on and not to write and work from, but this Lamps Plus table is just a bit taller because it started life as a kitchen table. And, at some point it may move into the kitchen for real. Or my bedroom for a bedside table. The possibilities are just endless!
We love the little glass dome from 55 Downing Street. Is it necessary? Probably not. But it is beautiful. And when you sit working at a computer for lots of hours each day, a little beauty just for the sake of beauty can be very important.
If you look at the floor in this photo, you’ll see part of a gorgeous rug (also from Lamps Plus). We call it the camel…and when it needs to be vacuumed we say we are “combing the camel”. It’s more fun that way (it isn’t ACTUALLY camel, that’s not okay). Rugs are such a great way to make a rental apartment feel more “you”. Fake camel rug? Yes please!
This picture shows the reality of work for us…or the way we wish it really were. And it does a good job letting you know how comfy the space is. Don’t you just want to curl up in the chair next to me and share a cup of coffee or cocoa? Okay, maybe you should get your own chair. Hey…use Nellie’s! She doesn’t (I’m sooo getting fired for that!)!
