The season for ice cream cones out with the family is quickly coming to a close. This is sad, but true. At least it is up here in the Minnesota tundra where we are putting snow tires on our cars and an extra set of boots in our trunks. So we are writing our last “hurrah” to ice cream and its greatness, and encouraging you to get out and visit your local ice cream places while you can still get to them without scraping your windows. Here in the Twin Cities area, the ice cream place-to-be is Izzy’s Ice Cream.
The building itself says a lot about what to expect from Izzy’s Ice Cream. It is quirky, clean, simple, and delicious.
Izzy’s Ice Cream is known for their “Izzy” scoop, which is basically just a teeny, tiny scoop of ice cream. We aren’t really sure why we love it so much (it’s just a tiny scoop of ice cream, basically one bite), but it is just pleasing. It just is. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to buy tiny ice cream scoopers, put on a tiny scoop of ice cream, and call it a special name was a genius.
Izzy’s Ice Cream makes their own ice cream right here in Minnesota, and then they send it out to one of their 2 shop locations. They have also started to get their ice cream in stores. We are lucky enough to be able to find ours at Mara Mi in Stillwater, so we don’t always have to head into the city. Chances are, there’s a place that carries the ice cream near you. But we still recommend hopping in your car one last time, and making an experience of the last ice cream trip of the year!
Can you tell I was excited about finding the second Izzy’s Ice Cream location when I was in Minneapolis? It was right next to my parking lot! Score!
