This is an I-spy game. Do you spy the Nellie?)
We sometimes are asked to talk about people and products for free product or money. Smart! Find our full disclosure here.
So, there are days where this NellieBellie gig is pretty great. We had such a day not too long ago. We had been asked to participate in a Coffee-mate campaign featuring the new David Bromstad designs. Not unusual, we do campaigns often. But, an email asking if we would like to participate in a phone interview with David Bromstad came a few weeks later. That’s unusual.
We assumed it was a conference call with others where we might get a question or two to ask. Cool. Very cool. But, we didn’t take it quite as seriously as we should have.
Confusion abounded with the time (Eastern Time and Central Time are different, ya know.) and then shortly before the interview we got an email explaining a bit more about it. The e-mail gave a call-in time and said that we would only have time for a few questions before the next person would call in.
Wait…what. One on one? Call in directly to David Bromstad, myself? YIKES!! I’m not ready! I furiously scribbled down questions hoping they would sound somewhat intelligent. I ended up not using them. Intelligence wasn’t the name of the game…conversation was. Good. I can do that!
Not joking when I tell you that I Googled “How to Interview a Celebrity”. And, the worst part… I told David Bromstad I did. Sigh. I am much too honest sometimes. Thankfully, it brought laughter and giggles. Which, I imagine is a good thing.
Google gives nothing helpful for when you need to interview a celebrity, just saying. I winged it. Totally and completely. But, there wasn’t any need to worry about it.
See… David Bromstad is a MN native. He’s all kinds of MN nice. We connected over MN. And coffee. And creamer. And ombre Christmas tree’s (But, that’s an inside joke between him and I). It was an easy conversation, going longer than it should have (go me!). I left the conversation wishing for a coffee date with David and an invite to his family’s Christmas. Another time, another place…when he wasn’t a giant star…we would have been friends. The drinking, laughing, crying kind. *sigh* He’s a cool, Minnesota guy.
I have inside jokes and connections with David Bromstad! Totally cool.
Coffee and Coffe-mate is the name of the game though for this interview. Specifically Coffee-mate’s new bottles with David Bromstad’s designs. To be fair, it’s how I got to interview him in the first place. So, let’s address that.
David Bromstad believes in the little things in life being beautiful and special. Which is why him and Coffee-mate make a great pair. He’s making something as simple as our coffee creamer special. You can open your fridge and see art everyday. Your creamer bottle has Bromstad art right on it. And, you know that here at NellieBellie we adore anyone finding simple beautiful! Go David!
Coffee is important to us, and appreciating simplicity is important. So, we are so thankful that David Bromstad and Coffee-mate “get it”. And that a favorite part of our day just got a bit more special!! Now, every time we sit with coffee in the morning we grin at each other and think about that day. The Day we Googled “How to Interview a Celebrity”. And then made up the rules ourselves.
Also, we should mention that the folks at Coffee-mate and David Bromstad have been some of the best we’ve ever worked with. Truly and forever! We adore those kinds of people..the super kind ones! Hooray! @bromco is now on our Instagram and Twitter feeds! And we are joining in on the Coffee-mate photo fun (info below)…
