I have to come clean and tell you I have a little obsession with lamps. They are my arch enemy, my biggest love, and my pet peeve all rolled into one. I love the shapes, sizes, and colors that lamps come in. I love what a fantastic lamp can do for a space. I hate that I can’t leave a store without looking at every lamp in sight, and often bringing one home with me. And my biggest pet peeve…ugly lamps. Why must there be ugly lamps when there are such cute ones in the world?

Today’s diy is a lamp. No surprise there. Tuesday’s DIY was a light cube and today’s is a lamp…overkill? nah! But, perhaps you aren’t obsessed with lamps like I am …but you still need a great-looking lamp on an easy budget. Well, this quick diy cylinder light is brilliant!
- A shop light
- A glass cylinder
Note: Be sure that your shop light funnel is just slightly larger than the width of your cylinder.
- Wrap the twine around the bottom of the vase using super-glue to attach it.
You can skip the twine if you like. I just thought it dressed it up a bit and made it seem more…vintage?
Go around and around the vase bringing the twine as high as you like adding superglue as needed.
Now, take apart the shop lamp. Leave off the clamp, and put it back together upside down…
Insert it into the top of your cylinder. This is why you wanted to be sure that your lamp was just slightly larger than your cylinder; otherwise it would have fallen right through! Not good.
I feel like I should add steps or something to drag this out. But….
Before you leave you must see my favorite DIY light of all time. ..
