Number Eight [Products]:
Even on the best day I am still a 37 year old mother of a teenage girl and pre-teen boy, multi-business owner, wife, and much more. I am aging, my skin is aging along with me, and I can't run from that always. Frankly, I am darn proud of it. I have wrinkles around my eyes, gray hair peeking through, and a frown line starting to deepen between my eyes. I have earned every one of my aging marks, they each speak to a life well-lived. But I don't always need the world to see them, too. Here are some of my favorite make-up products for helping to cover, conceal, and highlight:
I love using highlighter (I find highlighter looks more natural than white pencil or powder) under my brow bone, on my temple, and at the top of my cheeks. Often I'll put a bit on the back of my hand and use a contour brush to apply it...this helps keep it natural and soft.
Love this stuff! I mix shimmer cream in with my tinted moisturizer to give my face a nice little glow. Or, I use a brush to gently brush where my skin would hit the sun.
- Gel liner
I find that gel liner gives a soft line without pulling.
- Cream blush
Cream blush just on the apples of my cheeks leaves a young, flushed color without drying my skin.
The older I get the more I need to care for my brows. Often I will just fill out my brows, add blush, and throw on mascara to get through the day. Take time on those brows.
This photo shows me "made-up" in one of my go-to daytime looks. On this particular day I was a bit tired and drained...my eyes showed it. So, I kept the eye make-up matte (shimmer is a bad idea if you are tired) and simple, the blush and highlighter put on with a fairly heavy hand, and my favorite hot pink lipstick. I love using bright (and usually a bit off-beat color) lipstick, shimmery skin, and simple eyes for my day-time look.
Tip: If you have young and healthy skin use a light hand with make-up...the more you use the more you age yourself. True story. Let that youth shine through!
