We've been hearing talk about this great place on Lake Street in Minneapolis; Barbette's. Usually, when we hear about decent places to eat we kind of tune it out. We like the slightly off-beat. The hidden gems. Those places everyone doesn't know about. So we like to find our own. But a friend asked to meet up there for Thai coffee, and we just couldn't say no.
We'd never heard of Thai coffee before.
Maybe it's a perfectly normal thing. But not in our world. So we met up at Barbette's, made sure to get Thai coffee to sample, and also ordered some breakfast.
Oh, my goodness!
The coffee was great. That's a given. The atmosphere was eclectic, as promised. The wait staff was really friendly and happy and great. Overall, great. As promised by the many awards given to the restaurant over the years.
But the eggs!
All three of us had different variations of poached eggs. And every single one was poached perfectly.
All of them.
And we saw other people's food come out. And their eggs were poached perfectly.
If you aren't a fan of poached eggs, you probably don't get it. That's fair. But for anyone who enjoys the perfection that comes with a yoke that cracks perfectly with a fork...this is the place for you. Seriously. We have no words to explain how perfect Barbette's eggs are. No words.
Why don't we have pictures of Barbette's perfect poached eggs?
Well, we didn't know we should be taking them. We didn't know until we tasted them that they'd be that good. No one warned us. Their website sneakily ignores the awesomeness of their eggs. We'll go again and get pictures. Maybe. We'll probably eat them too quickly, though.
