“Ain’t nobody got time for this!” I put that sentence in quotes because I surely didn’t say it first. I don’t know who did, really. But, in the case of making appetizers and themed party treats that line completely applies to my life … and probably yours. I do NOT have time nor do I want to make the time for fancy pants party food. Not when easy and fast is an option. And frankly, easy and fast is ALWAYS an option. Don’t ever believe it isn’t.

Like this caramel “apple” cheese ball. Easy and fast. Delicious. And oh so cute. Like, really really cute!
In fact, after I made this cheese ball up and was getting the tortilla chips on the plate Levi came into the kitchen and was excited because he thought I had made him a caramel apple. At first he was disappointed to learn it wasn’t but soon changed his mind when he dug into the caramel “apple”. I, however, was secretly pleased to have fooled him so well. Score one for me!
You start with a package of cream cheese and a Tastefully Simple Dulce de Leche Cheeseball Mix. Now, this mix tastes sweet and awesome for fall – highly recommended! However, you could pass on the awesome cheese ball mix and make up your own favorite cheese ball recipe and move on to the next step. Just be sure to use a sweet cheese ball recipe rather than savory.
Put the mixed up wonder of cheese into the fridge to chill up and make it possible for you to form it. About 2 hours.
Maybe you don’t have whole nutmeg and cinnamon sticks in your house to grind fresh. Okay, let’s be honest, most likely you don’t. Normal people probably don’t. Whatever you have on hand is just fine. You’ll blend up about 1 cup of brown sugar with 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 teaspoon nutmeg. Add the pretzel topping from the Dulce de Leche Mix.
Stir that whole mess together.
That chilled cheese ball mix can come out of the fridge and be formed into a ball, rolled in the sugar & spice mixture, set on a plate, and pressed down in the center. Just take your thumbs and gently press the center in.
A cinnamon stick is your stem and a green gum drop a leaf. Easy. Cute. And utterly delicious! Serve your sweet cheese ball with homemade tortilla chips (with cinnamon & sugar), pretzels, and /or apples for a great appetizer that will disappear faster than you can say SA-WEET!
