repurpose PVC: welcome mat

By  |

This was a project my brain thought would look cuter then it did. I was originally going to do this project for the American Crafter Round 1. It stunk. So I did the L.O.V.E. plaques instead.

But, after some paint fixing I rescued this project and it is sitting at my front door. Not my proudest moment. But not my worst either.

Good enough to give you the run down on the how to’s…

Grab a cheap door mat. Mine was $2 from Menards.
And lot’s of PVC pipes. Get them cut to length if you don’t have a cutter.
And you’ll need the 4 elbow’s.

Make the frame to the size of the rug…

I laid out all my PVC pipe to make sure it all fit.

I put Marine Goop all over the mat and then stuck the frame down, then each of the PVC pipes. Let it sit and get all set and hard.

Then paint it. Ugh. I am not a painter. But you are. so you will do amazing. If not, oh well…it’s for people’s feet anyways.

I think it’s cute too! And very original! A question though – are the pipes slippery when they get wet? Thanks for sharing, and since anything un-Martha is the best I’ll be following along now!

where the heck did you find a $2 door mat!?!? And what is Menards?? Burning questions. I can’t ever find a cheap door mat

Menards is the builder supply store. It’s a giant company. Kind of like a Wal-mart for building supplies. yep, when I saw that for $2 I snatched it up! I actually got another one to just paint.

I think it came out great and I love that you used bright colors and wrote hi ya instead of boring ol’ welcome!
