Holy German short-haired dog!! Since writing up this post the other projects for the American Crafter contest have gone up. There is some serious craftiness going on over there!
I am probably not the one to vote for. There are wayyyyy better projects then mine. Yikes!
Go vote…those ladies deserve every bit of props! Vote HERE!

Hi all…Janel from Hating Martha here and I am excited to show you my jute and nails L.O.V.E. plaques. I desperately needed some art for my master bedroom and these were just the ticket. Created from stained wood boards, different size and color nails, jute, and a faucet knob these are fun, inexpensive, and so perfect for our bedroom…dontcha think?
That was my submission for the American Crafters competition that went live for voting. Yeah, hint hint…go vote HERE!
But as in any decent craft on here I give you the play by play so you can do it yourself.
Not saying this is a decent craft. I mean…I think so. But, you got your own brain so maybe you hate it. go away. go eat stinky cheese.
Here we go…

Boards cut into squares and then stained. And stained again.
And then again. To get nice and rich.

I used white nails for the inside of the letters and large nails for the surrounding.

Using stencils, outline the letters with the white nails.
I had to touch the tops up a bit with white paint cause I hammered the snot out of them (darn knots in the wood).
I should mention that for the heart I skipped the white nails and used the red faucet. But you probably got that.

Use the large nails to provide your outline for your jute to wrap around. Be sure those nails have big heads to catch the jute.

Then just wrap this around and around. And around again. Seriously…I used this whole stinking thing! Who knew it would take so much.

Ain’t she pretty!
P.S. Stinky Linky Party is still live until Midnight tonight. I just needed to plug my craft. You understand.

I loved your string art LOVE project. I thought it was very creative. Sorry you didn’t go on to the next round. I know when they posted the projects I was blown away by everyone’s. I’m a bit bummed I didn’t make it to round to but I was pretty stressed last week so from that stand point I’m glad it’s over.
You are a very creative blogger! I’m now following you on bloglovin’! I never would have found you otherwise so your blog is my prize for participating!
