I’m showcasing the new Kleenex Brand Ready to Care Collection by Betsey Johnson as part of a sponsored series with Socialstars. #KleenexBetseyStyle
Many of you work in offices. Some of you work in service industries, or government settings, or schools, the list is endless. Regardless of where you work, what you do, and whom you work for, we want you to celebrate International Fun at Work Day on April 1st. Because there are three words in that title that you don’t see together very often…but should.
I like to think my job here at NellieBellie is one of the best a girl can hope for. I work with my sister, make my own hours, bake and create for work, and all sorts of other great stuff. Can we be serious for one minute, though? This job is still work. And work, even at its best, is WORK.
So, to say that I love the idea of having an entire day set aside for having fun at work is an understatement. I love the idea not just for myself, but for each of you that have actual really hard jobs.
So here’s what we propose…leave a fun little something-something on your co-worker’s desk in celebration. Nothing fancy. You don’t have to be crafty or creative or clever. Just a simple handwritten note and a small, fun gift. Don’t even put your name on it.
Can I tell you what I have ready to go for Lanet (shhhh, don’t tell her!) who is my one and only co-worker? I printed up some jokes on simple paper, wrote out a little poem on paper, picked up one of the new Betsey Johnson Kleenex packets (those are fun fun fun!), and tucked it all into a little treat bag. Nothing fancy, just straight up happy mail. And the fun Ready To Care collection really does have great patterns and is designed almost like a wallet…so it feels like a real gift. A real, and useful, gift. Double win.
Now, the jokes I chose are cheesy and pretty darn terrible. And I am not a poet. But in my case…Lanet will know who it’s from because of the whole only-two-of-us-work-here problem. No need to be clever at hiding my identity! You can choose something similar, or your own set of jokes. You can even take a more serious route with your co-workers.
But I want to honor this fun idea and perfect day to celebrate the best parts of our jobs. I want to take part in something I hope many adults are participating in across the world.

One of our interns asked another if she was planning to sign up for the company’s 401(k).
“I’m considering it,” replied the second intern.
Later, the first intern approached me looking concerned.
“I did the math,” she said, “and 401K is almost 250 miles. She’ll never make it!” (Source)

Answers to questions asked on the way to the bathroom are not legally binding. People will agree to anything in that situation. (Source)
I know, they are cheesy, but I’m good at cheesy :). I’d love some good jokes to add to this list! If you have one, leave it in the comments and I’ll add it for everyone to use. Thanks!
What do you say? Are you willing to participate in International Fun at Work Day with us? We want to hear about what you have planned, what you’ve done in the past, or what you think would be fabulous to have happen to YOU. Tell us!
Cause, come’on…who doesn’t want that?
