Simple steps to make your own journals
These diy journals are simply pretty. The are the kind you want to be seen carrying around. They make you feel smart and hip. This diy journal tutorial is cool ( I just needed to stick the words diy journal tutorial in together for Google. I couldn’t come with something better then that sentence. Although, I think I stuck it in again…didn’t I. Oh yeah, I am on a roll. diy journal tutorial. Ha!)
Now STOP…hammer time. Just kidding. No really, I’m guesting over at Setting for Four today. Great lady…great blog!! You NEED to get yourself there!! in Hammertime! Okay…you can move.
Luckily, these DIY journals are also simple to make and personalize. They make great gifts for others (and yourself).
These wicked sweet DIY journals require:
- card stock ( I used faux wood)
- copy paper
- heavy needle
- upholstery thread
- and hammer
Line up the copy paper on the cardstock.
Trim the cardstock so you have about 1/2 inch all the way around.
Take your needle and hammer.
Punch holes down the center of the stack of copy paper.
Be sure to hold down the paper so it doesn’t shift on you.
Use a running stitch (or whatever you can manage) to run your upholstery thread through the holes.
Holding it tight for the first few holes will help for the rest.
It’s not really as tricky as it sounds.
Now fold it over and you are done.
Use tape, markers , embellishments and such to personalize these.
There’s no such thing as the wrong way to finish these.
Do what you like.
And then smile when you write in your journal that you made all. by. yourself!
