DIY camera bag.

I am taking a bit of a break from the family room.
I am getting bored with it.
So thought I would do something else for a bit.

I bought a new camera recently (in case you couldn’t tell the pics around here were getting better).
I am a klutz and that poor camera needed to be wrapped up snuggly so it would be safe and sound.

But, camera bags are expensive.
And ugly.
And I don’t believe in paying a lot for something I don’t like.
I was determined to come up with my own solution.
I scoured the internet for ideas.
And came up with the following…
The DIY camera bag!

My supplies:
Handbag in the correct size and shape. This one was oh so cute but I just didn’t use regularly. It had a new life…it will be happier.
Fabric.
Hot glue gun and sticks. (I always forget extra glue sticks)
Scissors.
Diapers. Yep, diapers. Although everyone else uses foam. But, in the little old town I live in …foam is not available, diapers it is!

I used size 2 diapers. Oh jeepers that is such a weird sentence. Really weird.

Wrap double thickness of diapers with fabric hot glued into place.
You need a bottom and four sides. Watch the sizes, you may have to fold a diaper in half for a shorter side.

A shorter side. I ran out of the original fabric.
Like a true smarty pants I had matching felt along. That’s how I roll! (does the fact that I mention it make you realize how rare it is being prepared!)

I would love to show you how great my camera fits in here.
But…um…I had to USE the camera to take this picture. Problems!

I made a little divider attached with velcro to the side.
I wanted it to be movable and removable.
I don’t know why…but a girl has to have options!

Isn’t she pretty!
My camera is feeling very loved.
I am thinking not to many are quite so stylish hauling around their camera.
But this girl, she comes up to a scene….sets down her gorgeous bag…and what is that? she pulls out a…camera?
Oh yeah!
This project cost:
Handbag. A clearance at Burlington Coat Factory for 18.oo
Diapers. A small package for 6.50 (those things are expensive!)
Fabric. Clearance from Wally World. 1.75
Felt. Not clearance. 7.00
Hot glue sticks. I used 2—.25?

Grand total…ah shucks, I gotta add. Hang on, gotta find the calculator on the computer….
$33.50
Although I don’t think its fair. I didn’t use that bag. It sat in my closet collecting dust.
I think it shouldn’t count.

I say it cost… $15.50
What do you think…do I have to count the purse?

Just me,
Janel
